This summer, all we plan on wearing is a black tank dress. It's versatile, comfortable and most importantly, easy to style in different ways, so everyone won't know we're actually wearing the same thing ... day after day after day.

2016 Bridal Runways-Wedding Dress Trends

 

Enoy them! The latest and greatest in wedding fashion -- stylish brides are always looking for them.

We spent the whole last week scouring the Bridal Market runways to bring you the hottest trends of the season. Off-the-shoulder gowns, light blue hues (a subconscious nod to "Frozen's" Queen Elsa, perhaps?), plunging necklines, capes, floral patterns, chic separates, feathers and partial overlay skirts are all "in" for 2016.

Let us find the perfect summer dress for you

In British, it is a limited time frame in which to wear the summer dress, so the sooner people can find the perfect style the better.

You have approximately three weeks for summer dress exposure, when it's warm enough to bare your shoulders in the evening; Don't worry, we've found you the 50 best styles, but before we give you some guidelines on how to find your dream sunshine dress. When only sandals will do; and, thankfully only three weeks when you have to bother shaving your legs.

First things, putting on a summer dress should make you feel marvellous; a glowing, carefree, lighter version of you - the holiday you.

In summer, you don't need anything else to wear - you don't need tights, boots, jumpers or polo necks.There's something different about winter and summer dresses (obviously). let's hotfoot it to the park and drink some cider and dance until we're told by the park attendant to leave." Don't go by trends - ideally your summer dress should be something you whip out with glee every year. Most high street dresses are unfeasibly short and this, in my opinion, is because designers forget that women have bums so need more fabric for the behind. If you prefer something more fitted and formal then don't worry about it. Trends are there to be played with, not something that must be obeyed.  But you don't have to go there if you don't want to - there are some great options out there than come in knee-length (French Connection and Paul Smith) and maxi versions (ASOS and Pepe Jeans).

Contrary to British belief that when it gets warm you should wear nearly nothing and sunbathe in the park, there are plenty of summer dresses that are stylish and covered up. We give you the shirt dress, those with kimono sleeves and Mad Men-esque retro styles. Just because your dress has a sleeve it doesn't mean it's any less summery - there's something romantic about a billowing sleeve wafting around your arms. Those with Amazonian limbs don't need any advice; just enjoy your taking your pick of anything that the high street has to offer. However, if you are, like the majority of us, with boobs, hips and bums then high-waisted shapes are great, as are cap sleeves. The perennial wrap dress is a staple; a-line skirts give you tiny waists and long legs; a cut-out dress done tastefully can be very flattering (go for one with a waist-defining cut-out detail); and anything with a deep V (those who don't fancy baring all should go for a one of the panelled versions) offers instant body length. Pockets too are your friend, and very practical as well as giving an impression of nonchalance.

My perfect summer dress is sadly now defunct, after I shrunk it in the wash. It's still not something I can really talk about out loud, but as this is a written piece I'll be brave. It was from AllSaints - a white embroidered mini dress with a T-bar back, which was adorned with beads. It came with me on a two-month post-university trip round Italy; to numerous festivals and to every pub outing every summer for about three years. It was pure heaven. I have managed to replace it with several others, a white Gap dress with spaghetti sleeves; a floaty River Island maxi dress and a denim buttoned Seventies version from Madewell, but I do still pine for the original. It makes me think of Italy, of dancing all night in a derelict Italian mansion in Sicily; trekking up hundreds of steps in Almafi; of sitting in the sun during a probably illegal boat tour of Capri; of drinking cheap wine from huge carafes in Verona - it reminds me of summertime adventures.

Revolution Summer 2015-Wedding Guest Dress

Created in 2009 by Yael Aflalo, at Reformation, fashion and sustainability coexist. the company designs and manufactures limited-edition collections in their own factory. They manufacture most of their products in their own sustainable sewing factory, located in downtown Los Angeles.

Making effortless silhouettes to celebrate the feminine figure. A sketch becomes a dress in less than a month, so they're designing and making what you want to wear now. The design process,  starting with us thinking about what people really want to wear. They make the clothes from three different types of materials:

1) new sustainable fabrics,

2) repurposed vintage clothing and

3) rescued deadstock fabric from fashion houses that over-ordered.

The Arianna Dress

It is just a beautiful gown they can feel good in and most importantly, wear again. The skirt is full so there's a bit of leg room too. This is a full length georgette wrap dress with a ruffled plunging neckline, tied waist and a deep V back.

No summer wedding collection would be complete without a two piece - because let's face it, it's hot out there and a dress cut in half makes it a little cooler. Perfect for summer weddings or also just summer. Please note, this fabric runs sheer.This is a georgette set that includes a loose-fitting crop top with a high neckline and a split back with hook closure. The wrap maxi skirt has a high fitted waist then goes full at the bottom.

This one will have you wanting to walk down the aisle backwards. The Sera Dress is a silk satin back crepe gown that's minimal from the front, but packs a lot of drama in the back.It's fitted through the bodice and waist, but the skirt goes full. There are hook/eye closures that connect the straps, as well as a zip closure just below. All eyes are gonna be on you, why not look great from all angles?

OK so your friend is getting married and according to the schedule you're going to need like 6 looks. The waist is fitted nicely and the skirt can really move. The Avery Dress will have you looking your loveliest for the wedding, or whatever else is on the agenda. This is a full length georgette gown with a plunging V neckline and slightly ruffled cape sleeves that tie at the back. Hook/zip closure. Perfect for the pre-rehearsal brunch welcoming cocktail dinner.

The Floretta Dress

It looks incredible on every body, and don't be surprised if you see it reappearing at brunches and things after the wedding. The fit is loose through the body, but there's a self belt in case you prefer more of a waist.This is a georgette halter gown with a twisted neckline and hook/zip closure in the back.  Friends don't make friends wear ugly dresses.

At least one of your friends is probably getting married this summer and fortunately, we've made some dresses you can actually wear again. Like the Mia Dress. The waist is fitted and the back is split with hook/zip closures. This is a full length crepe gown with a V neckline, slightly ruffled cap sleeves and a beautiful full skirt.Perfect for weddings or also wherever. This one works well for ladies with a bigger bust.

Spring Wedding Dresses of Claire Pettibone

See wedding dress designer Claire Pettibone's romantic, prairie-inspired looks from her spring 2016 Bridal Fashion Week runway show.

Claire Pettibone showed us just how the West was won -- with plenty of vintage lace, pioneer style and bandit black details. Her romantic Spring 2016 collection took our breath away. The designer juxtaposed rustic Old West-style accessories, like cowboy hats and boots, with delicate wedding dresses featuring high necklines, scalloped edges, shirred lace and unexpected black tulle accents.

"I was honestly inspired by my brides," Pettibone tells The Knot. "I have a lot of girls who get married in this type of setting, or have this type of vibe." She cites O Pioneers!, a classic novel by Willa Cather, as an influencer, as well as finding the beauty in a natural landscape. "My father has a house in upstate New York, which has dairy farms and wheat fields. It's very rural, and I thought it was great design inspiration for a collection," she says. "I've never done anything like it before, and I like to keep things fresh and exciting."

There was a lot of lace on the runway, and Pettibone is all about fabrics and special embroidery, as evidenced in the romantic champagne and ivory lace sleeves, high necklines and gathered collars in her collection. "I loved working with the high necklines and details on the backs -- one of my favorite spots -- and sleeves. For the most part, the dress is going to be lined, but the lace is so beautiful against the skin, so this gives an opportunity to see that detail with yokes and embroidery." She even has two stand-out black lace wedding dresses with champagne lining in her collection!

As for all the black accessories? They're "a little twist to the sweetness and lace," Pettibone says, adding that they give a little edge to the romantic, feminine looks. "I'm not a cookie cutter kind of girl, so I like to offer brides something different, something that I hope is timeless and something that expresses who they are."

Wedding Dress Show at Bridal Fashion Week

While you were basking in the sun this weekend, I was trekking the streets of NYC in four-inch heels to bring you the latest wedding dresses (and shoes, and accessories) from Bridal Market. Here are some of the prettiest things I spotted. 

MAGGIE SOTTERO I mentioned earlier this week that ball gowns are making a major comeback for 2016. Here’s another to prove my point. 

 

MARCHESA Off-the-shoulder is another trend that’s coming back in a major way next year. I adore the rear view on this gown.

 

BADGLEY MISCHKA Rounding out my trends review, capes! This one gives you the same effect as wearing a veil without messing up your hair.

 

GALIA LAHAV Off-the-shoulder and a ball gown. Throw on a cape and she’s the next big thing. 

 

AMSALE I love the ultra-clean bodice of this Amsale gown, which had a sheer back and itty-bitty buttons down the spine. Perfection.

 

OSCAR DE LA RENTA This was the first collection with Peter Copping at the brand’s helm following Oscar’s death last October. I’m happy to report that Oscar’s vision lives on in many, many lovely gowns.

 

HOUGHTON I’m not naming names, but a LOT of wedding-style mavens were impressed by this runway show. (Which also featured menswear and a dog arbitrarily strolling the runway!)

 

ELIZABETH FILLMORE This dress had a lovely little peekaboo panel in the back. The crop top is new, but the sleek lines and body-skimming silhouette are classic Elizabeth.

Bridal Fashion Week Spring 2016 Trend

Bridal Fashion Week has come to a close, leaving us with a crop of chic wedding dresses that we would say "I do" to in, like, a hot second.

We've already given you roundups of the best bridal gowns on the runway this weekend, and now it's time to assess the major trends of the moment. Luckily, the spring 2016 collections kept things fresh and unexpected (it's not all about white and lace, although those gowns were as beautiful as ever). Read on for the biggest, must-wed-in trends from this season:

1. Crop Tops And Ball Skirts: That's right, guys, the crop top trend has become so ubiquitous that even brides are getting two-piece happy. And there's something seriously appealing about these midriff-baring confections, which appeared with multihued appliqués at Theia, in a sexy, plunging style at Reem Acra and a sweet sheer tee number from newcomer Mira Zwillinger.

2. Nude Tones: So long blush tones, there's a new nude in town. Creamy neutrals got new life this season with the aid of the embellishments that accompanied them—from feathered skirts to fringe midis, there was nothing boring about these novel nude gowns.

3. Sheer Illusion Sleeves: Short and sheer sleeves were major this season, and we can see why: The look is light and eye-catching without being too fanciful, and adds a touch of interest to the neckline (where you might otherwise have to drop more than a pretty penny on jewelry).

4. Short Frocks: For the spring 2016 collections, designers took a note from the red carpet regarding hemlines. Short dresses (some falling above the knee, some in the form of a high-low hem) were seen on several runways, including Jenny Packham, Oscar de la Renta, Reem Acra, Ines di Santo and Houghton—perfect for the warm weather-ready bride.

5. All-White Pantsuits: It's 2015, which means things can be super-modern in terms of bridalwear, starting with, well, wearing pants in place of a gown! Pretty white pantsuits were an unexpected (and welcome) surprise, and no two designers presented the look the same way. At Carolina Herrera, the pants were cropped (all the better to show your statement heels in), while at Theia, a crisp white silk tuxedo made waves down the runway. And at Houghton, an airy, loose-leg version of the trend provided the perfect inspiration for a chic beachside wedding look.

6. Floral Print: Floral lace is nothing new to bridal runways, but colorful floral print saw some floortime this season, too. At Houghton, a tiered dress with floral layers offered a bit of humor and whimsy for brides who want to wear anything but white, while Naeem Khan and Randi Rahm went a subtler route, with watercolor flower prints adorning traditionally stunning white gowns.
